Abbot Bruno NKONJI and several Rwandan friends created OPDE Rwanda in 1997. Our association has supported, to date, more than 800 children in the district of Huye (Southern Province). We have two community-based homes, which, along with housing the children, are the first place for listening and exchange between the children and our learning psychological team. In addition to our two homes, OPDE Rwanda has also set up educational programs whose main objective is to reintegrate the children into society.
Today, we integrate around 80 children back into their families per year. We continue their education in primary school, secondary school, and university while some continue on to be students in our vocational school and others we help to enter the workforce. These encouraging successes have been accomplished through the work of our OPDE Rwanda team and many volunteers from all over the world who have supported us over the years.
